Competition Rules
Read this before you compete. These rules decide who wins the monthly prize and how disputes are settled.
Last updated: 29 August 2026
1. Who can enter
Entry is free and open to StudyRush account holders aged 16 or over who are studying in Malta, have verified their email address and have chosen a username. One entry per person. StudyRush staff, administrators and their immediate family, and staff of the month's sponsor, cannot win.
2. Competition period
Each competition starts at 00:00 on the 1st of the month and ends at 23:59 on the last day of the month, Malta time (CET/CEST). XP earned outside that window counts towards the next month. Monthly XP resets once the winner is confirmed; your lifetime XP is never reset.
3. How scoring works
- Only Ranked Rush rounds count. Study Mode is unlimited practice and earns no competition XP.
- Every Ranked question is timed — Easy 30s, Medium 45s, Hard 60s. If the timer reaches zero the question is marked incorrect.
- Harder difficulties award more XP per correct answer. You must complete qualifying Easy rounds before Medium unlocks, and qualifying Medium rounds before Hard unlocks.
- Daily limits apply: 10 Ranked Rushes per day on a free account, 20 on Premium. Unused rushes do not carry over.
- Scores are calculated on our servers. The server record is the only official score.
4. Premium and fairness
Premium raises your daily Ranked limit but never increases XP per question and never makes questions easier. Premium is not required to win.
5. Provisional winner and the integrity check
At the end of the month, the account with the highest Ranked XP becomes the provisional winner. Before the prize is awarded we run an integrity check, which may include reviewing answer timings, accuracy patterns, tab-switching signals, duplicate-account signals and device patterns. We may ask you to complete a short supervised verification round.
If the provisional winner does not pass the check or does not respond within 7 days of being contacted, the prize passes to the next eligible student on the leaderboard.
6. Tie-breaks
Where two students finish on equal XP, we apply these in order:
- higher overall accuracy across Ranked rounds that month;
- higher XP earned at the hardest difficulty played;
- faster average answer time on correct answers;
- whoever reached that XP total first.
7. The prize
Each month there is one prize, supplied by that month's sponsor and published on the Rewards page before the month ends. The prize is subject to availability; if the sponsor cannot supply it, we may substitute a prize of similar value. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash unless the sponsor allows it, and cannot be transferred to another person.
We announce the winner by username. We will only publish your real name or photo if you separately agree. Any tax or duty on a prize is the winner's responsibility.
8. Disqualification
You will be disqualified — and may lose your account — if you:
- use more than one account, or let someone else play on your account;
- use bots, scripts, automation or external answer tools;
- tamper with the app, its requests, timers or scores, or exploit a bug;
- generate deliberately trivial material to farm easy questions in a way that defeats the purpose of the competition;
- refuse a reasonable integrity check.
XP obtained in breach of these rules is removed. Serious or repeated breaches lead to a permanent ban from future competitions.
9. Changes, cancellation and disputes
StudyRush is in beta. We may change these rules, scoring or a monthly prize where necessary, and we will announce any change in the app before it affects the running month where reasonably possible. We may cancel or pause a competition if fair scoring becomes impossible, and will explain why.
To dispute a result or decision, email studyrushmalta@gmail.com within 14 days of the announcement with your username and what you believe went wrong. We will review manually and reply. These rules are governed by the laws of Malta and sit alongside our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
